"I am fascinated with color and believe that color is vital to our daily lives. My inspiration is finding the harmony of color relationships on everyday subjects thru the process of painting. My hope is to inspire those who collect my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places."

Initially inspired to draw as a young child through observing her mother in the studio, Anita also has paintings in her personal art collection from her maternal grandmother. Anita loves science and anatomy and received her BSN from the University of Kansas. After a 7 year career as an operating room nurse, she missed her creative youth and chose to dedicate herself to painting full time. She continues to utilize her anatomy training while painting animals or the figure.

Growing up in Kansas City, Anita fell in love with the barnyard animals that surrounded her and continues to be inspired to celebrate these common animals grace and personality. Painting roosters and chickens are a special focus. Each bird's short and long, flowing feathers, wattles and combs are a very descriptive visual language. She enjoys the endless inspiration and challenge in finding the uniqueness and beauty in every one.

Anita is a Founding Emeritus member of the Plein Air Artists Colorado and signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the Outdoor Painters Society. She is an associate member of the American Impressionists Society and the American Women Artists.

Education:

Blending modern insight with old world training, Anita is an American impressionist trained primarily in the Russian school of painting. In the tradition of Russian Impressionism, Anita strives to be abstract in the details while still achieving the perception of reality.

Anita first studied art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City when she was-six years old. She took art classes thru high school. As an adult, Anita trained for three years in the Russian school of painting with Don Sahli who was the last protege of Sergei Bongart, who taught in the tradition of the Russian Impressionists. Anita studied classical portraiture for a year with Elvie Davis, at the Boulder Academy of Fine Art. Elvie Davis was a child prodigy of Clive Martindale who was John Singer Sargent's apprentice for 19 years. Anita also studied for three years at the Art Student League of Denver with Jay Moore and Kim Mackey.
